Our History

Founded on January 17, 2014, Paw Works is a dedicated animal rescue who began with a singular mission: to make Ventura County 'No Kill'. From our inception, we set out to alleviate the burden of pet abandonment and the consequences of uncontrolled breeding by placing unwanted animals from county and city shelters into loving, permanent homes.

In less than a month, Ventura County achieved the coveted 'No Kill' status, a testament to the resolute commitment and support from Paw Works. Over the years, our organization has evolved, now rescuing and rehoming an astounding 15,000 dogs and cats since inception from various counties in Southern California, as well as collaborating with rescue organizations statewide.

What sets Paw Works apart is our commitment to transparency and efficiency. A remarkable 98% of every donated dollar directly contributes to the rescue, care, education, and adoption of our beloved animals. In the past 7 years, we've achieved significant milestones:
